Why HR & employment law need
Deaf professionals.

Employment law exists to protect workers. Disability law — Equality Act 2010, the ADA, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities — is the most technically consequential area of the field. Yet the professionals who understand its lived reality most deeply are almost entirely absent from the institutions that practise and teach it.

“Deaf HR professionals don't just understand disability law intellectually. They inhabit its subject matter professionally. That is an irreplaceable form of expertise.”
I

Design-first, not retrofit

Every module, simulation and assessment was architected with signed language access from the first line of specification. The signed experience is the standard version.

II

Interpreter inside the environment

In VR, the signed interpreter exists within the virtual space — not a corner overlay. They occupy a position in the courtroom, tribunal chamber and mediation suite.

III

Oral exams in sign

Our AI oral examination system accepts responses in BSL, ASL, and ArSL. Sign is a registered examination mode with equal academic standing to spoken response.

IV

Deaf-led advisory input

The Academy is actively recruiting Deaf scholars, Deaf HR practitioners, and BSL/ASL/ArSL linguistics specialists to the Advisory Council.

V

Employer pipeline — signed profiles

Within The Pathway, Deaf graduates are presented to employer partners with their sign language proficiency as primary professional assets — not as accommodation requirements.

Lecture video overlay

Every recorded lecture has a signed interpreter window embedded within the video player — not a separate track. Position, size, and contrast configurable per student.

BSLASLArSLCSL

AI sign-aware advisor

Our AI tutor communicates in BSL, ASL or ArSL video format. For oral exams, both questioning and response analysis operate fully in the student's chosen sign language.

BSLASLArSLCSL

VR in-world interpreter

Inside the virtual courtroom, the interpreter is an embodied avatar occupying a designated position within the 3D environment — not a window outside it.

BSLASLArSLCSL

Case law games — signed UI

All ten case law games have signed instructions, challenge prompts and feedback delivered in BSL/ASL/ArSL video format — not text or spoken audio alone.

The Pathway — signed profiles

Deaf graduates' sign language competencies are presented as primary professional assets. Employers can filter for BSL/ASL/ArSL-proficient graduates directly.

Certificates & credentials

GHHRA certificates explicitly state BSL/ASL/ArSL completion alongside legal qualifications — a formally credentialed, employer-recognised record of signed-language legal education.

Changing who holds
legal power in the workplace.

The Deaf community is disproportionately affected by the very employment law issues we teach — workplace discrimination, reasonable adjustments, disability-related dismissal, tribunal procedure. The legal professionals best positioned to argue these cases are almost entirely absent from the field.

Every Deaf HR professional GHHRA places is a change in who holds expertise, authority, and advocacy capacity in the institutions that govern working life.
